Erik brings over 15 years of experience in private equity, capital formation, and family office operations spanning real estate, natural resources, healthcare technology, and aviation.

A former U.S. Ski Team athlete, he applies the same discipline and focus honed in international competition to sourcing, structuring, and deploying eight- and nine-figure capital commitments across high-impact projects.Prior to joining Basin Ventures, Erik served as President of a prominent private family office in Aspen, CO, where he managed a substantial high-net-worth portfolio, led multi-family housing developments across the Mountain West, oversaw nationwide natural resource operations, and directed the development of an energy-efficient data center in Montana. He also founded Berntsen Investments LLC, where he provides strategic capital formation and family office advisory services alongside direct investments in real estate, natural resources, technology, and healthcare.

Erik splits his time between Santa Fe, NM, Aspen, CO, and Southlake, TX, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
